All our mountain guides are certified by the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (The recognised body for guides) and the Deutsche Alpine Verein Club, in Germany. Our guides get yearly refreshment courses in First Aid. All guides are trained on how to use the PAC Chamber bags.

Hospitals

Notable hospitals with professional staff and dispensaries include, and are not limited to: The Pasang Lhamu Nicole Niquille Hospital, the Kunde Hospital and the open-during-season-time Clinic in Pheriche, run by the Himalayan Rescue Association. These Hospitals are usually used by clients when they have upset stomachs, and headaches. Major medical emergencies require us to call a helicopter, upon the judgement of the First Guide. To receive more information about this process please email us at info@everestlodges.com

Climate

Temperatures in the Everest region are quite cool after sundown but due to the strong sunlight at high altitudes, it is usually warm during the day. If the weather is good you will certainly be trekking in a t-shirt and long shorts or light trekking trousers, and a sun hat. The monsoon traditionally arrives around mid-June and clears away by the end of September leaving clear skies, warm temperatures during the day and cooler ones by night. The best time to visit the Everest region is from beginning of October until the end of May. Temperatures steadily decrease as you proceed towards the end of November and it can be quite cold at higher altitudes until the end of February.

Important note:

Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary but as this is adventure travel, we cannot guarantee it! By its very nature adventure travel involves an element of the unexpected, particularly in remote and/or mountainous regions. A variety of factors such as adverse weather conditions, difficulties with transportation and the health of group members can all contribute to the need to make changes, often at the very last minute. Changes can affect any part of the itinerary including overnight stops, duration of walking days, choice of accommodation and routing. Your trek leader will make every effort to maintain the integrity of the original itinerary and minimize the impact of any changes, but an easy-going and flexible nature is a real asset! Please note that all timings and distances given are approximate. Being in the mountains, flights can be delayed or cancelled due to weather conditions, thus the first night at Lukla gives us the buffer day in case of any delays or cancellation.
