EVEREST SUMMIT LODGE - MONJO

A comfortable five-hour’s walk from Lukla, Everest Summit Lodge in Monjo lies at an altitude of 2.850m. On arrival vibrant wildflowers, bright teahouses and the fluttering prayer flags will greet you. Not to forget our smiling Sherpa staff!

After the first day trek from Lukla, Everest Summit Lodge at Monjo is the absolute best place to put your feet up under the warmth of the blanket, or just sip hot tea as you acclimatize yourself to the trails of Everest. Overlooking the quaint village and the fierce Dudh Koshi River, Everest Summit Lodge is located against the striking backdrop of Thamserku Himal, rising from between the Khumbu and Hinku valley.

THINGS TO DO

We highly recommend spending two nights in Monjo in order to acclimatize to the altitude and make a day excursion to Thachok Danda, which lies a little above 3.000m. The views of Kongde Ri, Thamserku, and Numbur Himal are stupendous from this vantage point.

“Home stay feel with luxury”

My first night in the Khumbu was at this luxury lodge in Monjo. Arriving there from a 6 hours trek and be greeted by a beautiful smile, a refreshing towel and some comfortable slippers made me feel at home straight away. A delicious homemade cake and some tea was served close to the stove in the restaurant. Very cosy - the welcome could not have been better. My room was with wooden floors and big enough so that I could practise Yoga. And what a nice surprise to have the bed heated by an electric blanket. The food served in the restaurant is fresh and very nicely prepared, local dishes were served including a soup, a main course and a desert. Breakfast is amazing - you can order juices, eggs, chicken sausage, fruits, porridge, homemade pancakes ... Just perfect to start a new day of trekking. I can highly recommend this lodge for trekkers who are looking for a homestay feel with luxury amenities and personalised service. The staff is always smiling and very attentionate.
